The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer

Our 8-10 reviewer, Lila, has a great pick this month:

Once a rather long time ago (a couple of decades earlier) there was a teenager named William. He lived in a village in Malawi, Africa and had a small gang of friends with whom he played very often. He had lots of fun playing, reading and making toy trucks out of wire and bottle caps along with his friends. Then suddenly, a huge famine struck. His family and all the farmers were losing money as their crops weren't growing very well. He was forced to drop out of school because of the lack of money and his family members were struggling to find a proper meal. Read on to find out how he applies all his learning and conquers the famine in the best way possible.

This autobiography is a lovely book and will be a perfect fit for readers of all ages willing to explore the world of science like never before. This book has also been made into a movie, which I haven't watched yet, but intend to soon.
