Hercule Poirot's Christmas

Agatha Christie

This is the story of Christmas at the Lee mansion. The patriarch of the family, Simeon Lee, surprisingly invites his entire family over for Christmas.  It’s surprising because he usually never does it.  The guests include his orphaned Spanish granddaughter Pilar, who the family has never met, and his son Harry, who has been estranged from the family after a scandal. Simeon Lee is shown as a bit of a tyrant and on Christmas Eve, he is found dead with his throat slit. Hercule Poirot must once again solve this mystery, even though he had hoped that no murders would happen around Christmas time.

I liked this book. I felt that the plot featuring the death of a family tyrant was quite similar to Appointment With Death. This book however had a very interesting plot twist at the end. It's a fun read in part because of the large number of suspects and each of them having a motive for the murder.
