This is the story of three baddies- a ghost, a troll and a witch.  And then there is a little girl!  The three baddies are constantly competing with each other as to who is the scariest.  A mouse challenges them to a competition.  The Baddie who can steal the girl’s handkerchief by being scariest wins. What makes this book fun is that they all fail and the mouse gets the handkerchief from the girl. Like all Julia Donaldson books, this book is written in rhyme.  It’s not one of her best books, the style is repetitive and feels uninspired! That being said, I think 2-4 year olds would really enjoy it.
