This is one of the six original Babar books written by Jean De Brunhoff. This particular one was published after he died at the age of 38 of tuberculosis in 1937. What I find amazing about these books is that the illustrations and the story don't seem old fashioned even though they were written so long ago. This may be because it's set in a fantasy land called “Elephant’s Country”. This book is about Babar’s trip to “Man's country” to find Santa Claus and invite him to visit. He has some fun adventures travelling to Europe and tracking Santa Claus down.  This is a great book to read in the lead up to Christmas.
